Worked for 3 years, with loads of periods of not working in between and doing random projects. No revenue for first 3 years

Trends.vc making around $20k/month in Sept 2020, up from $0 in March. It’s a series of weekly reports on markets and ideas

Adding an email collection form change EVERYTHING.
 
Model that worked best was having half the report free, and the other half paid
 
Not too worried about the competition. As long as you get in early, you have a micro-monopoly. But first mover advantage really is a thing here
 
Changes made to help revenue growth
  • A lot of it came from Product Hunt
  • Generated a lot of goodwill before launching on Product Hunt by giving away stuff for free
  • The cool thing about audience first ideas is that you can generate your audience and revenue at the same time
